Fix a Bleach Stain on a Carpet with Acrylic Paint

Bleach stains cannot be removed from a carpet, but they can be successfully covered up with the right acrylic craft paint colour and a little water. Acrylic paints are used by painters to paint on wood, metal, canvas and other surfaces. These paints have fairly quick time of drying, and can be purchased at any craft store. Make sure to dilute the acrylic paint when using it to cover a bleach stain on your carpet, otherwise, it will harden the carpet fibers.

Instructions
  1. Determine the acrylic paint colour closest to the colour of your carpet by squeezing different shades of acrylic paint onto a paper plate and comparing them with the shade of your carpet. Keep in mind that eventual carpet cleaning may wash out the paint, so make sure to remember the type of acrylic paint you've used to avoid buying several bottles of paint next time.
  2. Once you have chosen the paint that matches best with your carpet, squeeze a small amount of it (no more than a half teaspoon) from the bottle into a cup of water. Use a sponge brush to stir the mixture, making sure the paint is completely dissolved in the water.
  3. For large bleach stains, use a sponge brush to gently dab the paint solution onto the affected area until it is covered. Use a watercolour brush or a cotton swab dampened with the solution when you are dealing with smaller bleach stains.
You may be able to blend the bleach stain without painting the carpet by cutting off the carpet threads with a pair of scissors. If something goes wrong and you stain the carpet even more with the acrylic paint, consider calling professional carpet cleaning company to restore the best possible appearance of your carpet.
