How to Steam Clean Hardwood Floors

Water usually is not the best thing for hardwood floors but there is time when steam cleaning is required to get your floors clean. Using a dry vapour steamer is a great way to get rid of grime without damaging the hardwood finish. Learn how to steam clean hardwood floors properly as following the suggested steps below.

Instructions
  1. Rent or purchase a steam cleaner that produce dry steam. Carpet cleaning Acton doesn't recommend using a steamer that leaves droplets of water, as it can damage your floor. Go to the nearest hardwood floor or supermarket and get the steam cleaner with the highest possible temperature of work in order to clean your floors by the best possible way.
  2. Pour as much water into the steamer as advised by the manufacturer.
  3. Turn on your steam cleaner to warm up. This will take no more than 5 minutes, but you can use that time to remove any loose dirt and dust by vacuuming the hardwood floor.
  4. Use the steam cleaner by working in sections (two square feet approximately). Start from the floor boards then follow a pattern which will ensure that you haven't missed a spot during the steaming process.
  5. Once you have cleaned a section, wipe it up with a dry towel to remove any moisture then proceed to the next section of the floor. Repeat the process until the entire hardwood floor is cleaned.
Steam cleaning a floor twice a year is a good way to keep the floor clean longer. Cleaners Acton recommend to avoid using any cleaning products into your steamer as they can damage the floor, and suggest using only plain water to restore the shine of your hardwood floors.
