How to Remove Grease Stains from Carpet

Despite the fact that there are several types of greases, each with own characteristics, they all will stain a carpet, making unsightly and stubborn stain. Fortunately, as long as you act fast, most of these greases can be successfully removed with inexpensive household products. The longer the stain remains on the carpet, the more difficult it will be to remove it.

To avoid permanent grease staining on your carpet, Parsons Green cleaners suggest the following steps:
  1. Use paper towels or clean cloth to blot up as much of the grease as you can. Do not rub the stain, as this can spread the grease or embed it deeply into the carpet fibers. If you are dealing with dry stains, vacuum the carpet to get rid of any loose particles that may be sitting on the surface.
  2. To make your own homemade stain remover, combine together ¼ teaspoon of bleach-free, grease-lifting liquid dish detergent nad 1 cup of warm water.
  3. Apply the cleaning solution to the stained area and allow it to set for 5 minutes. This gives the detergent time to break down the grease.
  4. Use a clean, dry cloth to blot the area until no more grease transfers to the cloth.
  5. Use cold water to rinse the stained area, and if the grease is still visible, repeat the process, starting from step 2.
  6. Soak up the excess moisture by blotting the area with paper towels.
  7. Vacuum the carpet to restore its texture.
If this method doesn't remove the entire stain, carpet cleaning Clapham team suggests to use a liquid spot remover instead of the liquid detergent.
