How to Remove Toner From Carpet

Laser printers and photocopiers use toner to print images and text on paper. Toner spills leave black or coloured stains on the carpet. The only solution to remove a toner stain is to treat it as soon as it occurs.
If you leave the stain untouched, it will set deeper into the carpet fibers and become impossible to clean even for professionals such as Parsons Green cleaners.
The things that you will need to get rid of a toner stain and keep the appealing look of your carpet are dry cleaning solvent, dishwashing soap, spoon, soft cloths, towels, bowl and a vacuum cleaners. The instructions are:
  1. Use a spoon to scoop up as much spilled toner powder as possible and then vacuum up the remainder. If the toner is in liquid form, use a clean, soft cloth to soak it up.
  2. Dampen a soft cloth with dry cleaning solvent and blot the stained area with it. Keep blotting the area until most of the stain is gone. While blotting use new cloth moistened with the solvent when the previous one gets contaminated.
  3. Use a small bowl to mix 3 drops of liquid dishwashing soap with 1 cup of water in it.
  4. Remove what is left of the stain by blotting it with a soft cloth moistened with the soapy solution.
  5. Place a towel on the treated area and press it down to absorb any excess moisture from the carpet.
  6. Vacuum the carpet to restore the original texture of the carpet, and clean up the vacuum's bag after cleaning in order to prevent the toner from redistributing in the air.
Carpet cleaning Parsons Green team suggests using hydrogen peroxide to remove toner stains from light coloured carpets.
