How to Use Vinegar to Remove Carpet Stains

You never know when a carpet stain will occur, and for that reason, you should always be ready to act when a stain does happen, even if your commercial cleaner has run out. A prompt intervention will prevent the stain from settling into the carpet, causing unrepairable damage. So, instead of losing time going to the nearest store for some carpet cleaner, use common household vinegar to remove stains from your carpet. Vinegar can remove even the toughest stains, including coffee, soft drinks, alcohol and pet mess. It is also environmentally friendly way to clean your carpet.

To remove stains effectively with vinegar, carpet cleaning Holborn suggests you the following steps:
  1. Find an empty spray bottle, and make sure it is well cleaned from its previous content.
  2. Blot with paper towels at the affected area to remove excess stain-causing liquid.
  3. Fill the spray bottle with two parts cold water and one part white vinegar, seal and shake to mix the ingredients well.
  4. Spray a small amount of the solution onto a hidden area of your carpet, then blot dry to make sure that the vinegar won't discolour your carpet.
  5. Spray the solution onto the stained section of the carpet generously, and let it soak for a minute.
  6. Make a stack of several paper towels (five to eight is great).
  7. Get the stain out of your carpet by blotting it with the paper towel stack. Apply some pressure on the stack when pressing it against the stain.
  8. Repeat spraying with the vinegar solution and blotting the carpet until the stain is gone.
  9. Let the carpet dry. The smell of vinegar should vanish while it evaporates, according to carpet cleaning Holborn.
