How to Remove Dried Candle Wax from Carpet

Wax stain is easiest to remove when it has solidified, so there is no need to rush cleaning it. However, it is best to remove the wax as soon as it has hardened, otherwise the wax can melt and absorb deeper into the carpet fibers under the influence of the room temperature.

The things that you will need to get rid of a wax stain are dry cleaning solvent, white cloth, plastic knife and vacuum cleaner. Here are the steps, recommended by carpet cleaning Acton, to efficiently remove the wax:
1. Use a plastic knife to scrape up as much of the wax as possible. Vacuum up the wax pieces to prevent them from spreading around.
2. Blot the stained area with a white cloth dampened in a dry cleaning solvent. You can also use a spot remover specified for grease stains. Keep blotting until the area is saturated.
3. Soak up the solvent with a clean cloth. It is advisable to use white cloths as coloured ones can transfer colour to the carpet and make the stain worse. If the stain is still visible, reapply and blot up the cleaning solution again.
4. Rinse out the solvent by blotting the treated area with a clean cloth soaked in cool water.
5. Finally, blot the carpet with a dry cloth until it is nearly dry and leave it to air dry completely.
You can use ice to harden the wax quicker. Acton cleaners recommend testing cleaning solutions on a concealed area of the carpet before applying them on the entire carpet to make sure they don't damage the fibers.
