Tips for Removing Stubborn Stains From the Carpet

Everything can stain your carpet: red wine, coffee, blood, mud, pet urine, fruit juices, ketchup and many many more. Knowing how to remove stubborn carpet stains is essential for every carpet owner.

The easiest way, of course, is to call a professional carpet cleaning Mayfair company and let them deal with the stains. But normally, professional cleaners charge a lot and they also use very strong cleaning detergents full of chemicals which could be dangerous for your health. They cause skin irritations and allergic reactions and should not be used in houses with pets and small children.
Most wall-to-wall carpets are synthetics consisting of materials such as polyester and nylon. You can remove stubborn stains from these carpets using common household items.
Here is a quick guide on how to deal with the stubborn stains yourself without using any store-bought cleaners or other chemicals.
First thing you need to know about carpet stains is that the sooner you react, the easier the stain will be to remove. Blot up as much of the stain as you can with a clean rag. Then mix one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid with a cup of clean water. Dip a clean towel in the soapy water and wring it well. Make sure the towel is not over soaked and press it on the stain and hold it for about 15 seconds. If the carpet has a severe stain, place a 1/2 inch stack of paper towels on the stain and weigh it down. Use a weight such as a heavy book. Allow 15 minutes for the soapy water to break down the stain and remove the weight you have put on it. Use a clean dry towel to blot up any excess liquid and foam.
Make a solution of two parts clean water and one part distilled white vinegar to rinse the stained area. This should help you remove all soap residues. Then rinse again with a clean damp cloth and let the carpet air-dry.
This method should help you get rid of most of the stubborn carpet stains. If it doesn’t help, you should reconsider calling Mayfair Cleaners. There is no stain they cannot remove.
