Carpet Cleaning Scams

Carpet cleaning has been a lucrative business over the last 20 years, during this time many companies succeeded and vastly expanded their operation. However recently I've been shocked by the huge amount of carpet cleaners that provide a rubbish service. Here I'm going to talk about several bad practices that you need to know about when hiring carpet cleaning provider in London. As i mentioned this niche has been growing for very long time and now the market is very dense. In this immensely competitive environment it is very hard to compete with the bigger brands and this is why some companies started adopting "short term" strategies in order to maintain their profits.

Hiring Emigrants Illegally

Such a strategy is hiring emigrants without UK work permit and treating them like slaves. Many of these people don't even speak the language, their personal hygiene is low and they have never been trained as a professional carpet cleaners.  This is wrong in so many ways that I don't even know when to start. Not that I have anything against emigrants, they are not the problem here, it is the people who hire them for pennies and abuse them. These people simply lack the expertise to provide high quality work and the probability for mistakes is much higher. This is what I describe as the "short term approach", if the management of these companies wanted to provide a good service they would have at least trained their employees and gave them uniforms.  What these companies have been doing is a shame, but I'm hopeful that the market will correct itself as people become weary of bad practices among carpet cleaners.

Beware of Hidden Fees

Another way to rip you off is by charging you hidden fees. Something fishy is going on if you see prices considerably lower than what the competition offers you. Some charge you 5 pounds extra for each stair or applying scotchgard and spot removers and any extra they can think of, this is how the "cheapest deal" becomes not that cheap once you have the bill in your hand. These "cheap deals" are just a trick to lure more people, this is a planned scheme. If it seems too good to be true it usually is. Just stay away from the cheapest deals, especially if provided by unknown providers. Bigger brand names such as All Carpets Cleaned and Fantastic Cleaners are reliable choice for your carpet cleaning.

Free Estimate

Other marketing trick that carpet cleaning companies employ is the so called "over the phone free estimate". Lets be perfectly clear, these estimates cannot be accurate and companies use them as an incentive for you to call them. These estimates are false and often you hear much lower figure than what you pay later. Nobody can tell you how much is going to cost if they have not seen your unique situation. There are many things to consider here, this is why responsible carpet cleaning providers will inspect your home before anything else.
