How to Remove Curry Stains from a Carpet

Common curry is made of coriander, cumin, red pepper and a variety of spices. It is served all around the world as a gravy, sauce or side dish with bread or rice. Even delicious, when spilled on a carpet, curry leaves colourful stains that can be nearly impossible to remove if not treated properly. Knowing how to remove curry stains properly can prevent permanent damage on your carpet.

Instructions
  1. Carpet cleaning Parsons Green suggests a solution of 2 cups warm water, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 1 tablespoon of dish detergent.
  2. Dip a part of a clean white rag into the cleaning solution, and begin dabbing at the stained area. Blot up the curry stain and the solution with a dry towel, and repeat the procedure. If the solution has no result on the stain, leave the carpet to dry completely and proceed with the next step.
  3. Pour a rubbing alcohol on a clean white cloth and work the stain the same way as you did with the vinegar solution. Once you have soaked up the alcohol from the carpet, inspect the area. If the curry stain is still visible, wait for the carpet to dry and go on the next step.
  4. Combine 1 cup of warm water and ¼ cup of ammonia and dab the solution onto the stain. Continue applying the ammonia solution to the stain until it is gone, then dab cold water onto the stain to rinse the area. Carpet cleaning Parsons Green advises to use ammonia only on light-coloured carpets, as it can discolour carpets with more dark dyes.
